Happy National Cheesecake Day!

The celebration part of National Cheesecake Day is a no-brainer - eat cheesecake! From plain ol' cheesecake to chocolate peanut butter to blueberry and beyond, there are enough creative flavors out there that this holiday doesn't discriminate.

Need a little flavor inspiration? Check out this cheesecake photo slideshow over on HP and vote for your favorite flavor:

The HP is also reporting that there are a couple of SWEET cheesecake promotions happening today:

  1. The Cheesecake Factory is offering half-price cheesecakes (click here for locations). It's also offering $5 off cheesecake bought online.
  2. Chicago-based Eli's Cheesecake is going one step farther by offering a free slice of cheesecake to all of its Facebook fans and Twitter followers.

If you're feeling more adventurous, go ahead and get a cheesecake in the oven. With a few tips and tricks, you'll be enjoying the fruits of your labor... and any fruit that makes its way on top of your dessert! Check out Diana's Desserts for lots of info.

Sweetie Pie Deal: FONT-tastic!

I've found that one of the easiest - and most fun! - ways to jazz up packaging, labels, tags, signs, paper goods, blog or website, etc. is by using a wide variety of fonts and dingbats that match your theme/product/event/style. Luckily, they are in no short supply and can be found all over the net - for FREE! The following is a collection of some of my favorites and great sites where you can find tons more...

I'm in the Pictures & Sewing for Tots

There's nothing quite like showing up to work in a whirlwind of dust, 90 degrees, frizzy hair and bug spray... and then remember that public television is coming to film at the office today! Where's a comb and a lint brush when you need them?

While I'm off prepping for the day's activities - including some filming out on a ranch or two - I'll leave you with these cute fat quarters I picked up at the fabric shop yesterday... so many options... and so many friends having babies these days! Maybe I'll use these for bibs - or burb cloths?

What's your favorite sewing project for little ones?

A Bird Can Dream: BlueQ Dish Towels

In my quest to find some plain dish/tea towels for a new project, I stumbled upon BlueQ's hilarious dish towels! I own several of their bags but didn't know they had come up with these lovely - and sometimes snarky - creations....

"True comfort food, hon."

 "Always prepared, darlin'."

 "It's what's best."

"No, no, really, I'm fine, just cutting an onion....Don't Touch ME!"

"Eat your broccoli. So, what did you learn in school today? Stop hitting your sister. Get mommy another glass of wine."

Check out all of the dish towels by clicking HERE.

Floral Adventures: Pressed Plant Weekend

We're off today to restock the plant press in the Wyoming Range - with all of our warm but wet weather recently, there are some colorful lovelies on the mountainsides that are about to make their way into the press.

The husband has been working hard to learn about framing and matting and even has some great finished pieces. I'm taking the camera - can't wait to show you what we find :)

Framing try #1 - green matting with a pressed Sego Lily

Happy weekend!

Nest Building: Garage Sale Ride

When a local auctioneer has a garage sale, it's a safe bet that there will be some amazing finds. Kudos to my husband for finding this $15 gem!

"Hiawatha brand bicycles were sold by the Gambles Hardware stores. Most Hiawatha bicycles were manufactured by the Cleveland Welding Company or the Shelby Manufacturing Company, however some were made by Murray of Ohio and Huffman Mfg. The most sought after Hiawatha bicycle is the late 1930's Arrow model, built by Shelby. It featured extreme styling and was similar to the Shelby Airflow model."

Sweet book holder

It's nice that the hubby is really into rebuilding bikes -
I think this one will be a beauty!

Perfect for the commute to work...

Nest Building: Vintage Apple Baskets

I had a little adventure a few weeks ago when I drove down to the southern part of the state to visit Saratoga (WY) and the Snowy Range. While I was exploring the town, I stumbled upon a great western store that had a stack of these vintage bushel baskets for sale... for $5.95! Top that, eBay!

For now, they exist in our sunny mudroom until I have the space to put them somewhere more useful. Living room? Linen storage in the bathroom? Side tables next to the bed? Do I dare try to incorporate them into my craft show/farmers market displays?

White Tents & Open Spaces

My office had our first big fundraiser event of the summer on Saturday - and we decided to set up a motion-detecting wildlife camera to catch all of the set up from start to finish.

Here's the event site - a conserved ranch in NW Wyoming -
before it became this...

What a beautiful night!

While I catch up on some zzzz's, I hope you're ready for a return to posting tomorrow. We had some amazing thrift store/garage sale finds recently and I can't wait to share!
