Introducing the Head-of-the-Class Headband from Pie Bird!
And the back-to-school crafty gifts continue! When I found a tutorial for an Anthropologie-Inspired Rose Headband over on Two Little Bugs Clothing Co. I knew that it would be a great accessory to add to the care packages for my sister-in-law (a new 5th grade teacher) and sister (senior in college). They both love Anthropologie AND headbands. Talk about a winner!
(Sidenote: If you also love all things Anthropologie, check out Lisa Roy's recent post on a tutorial she found on making an Anthropologie fabric necklace!)
Who doesn't need a little more Anthro in their life?
The trickiest part of the project for me was making the jean fabric roses - (1) because I had never made fabric roses before and (2) because I'm incredibly incompetent when it comes to hot glue and my fingers. All in all, I'm so pleased with my two headbands and can't wait to make more! If you've got a pair of old jeans tucked away somewhere, go ahead and sacrifice a leg to make a a few of these!
I did not use the No Fray spray mentioned in the tutorial, but I like the frayed look on these. I'm not sure if I could personally pull one of these off in normal, everyday life but I'm sure that the recipients of these lovely Head-of-the-Class Jean Covered + Rosette Headbands will rock 'em out!
Ready for the care package! More on the notebook later...

I am so glad you decided to share this - I just ordered some plain hair clips to decorate in this very way! I have a couple tutorials bookmarked so now I have another one to refer to!
ReplyDeleteso cute! I love them made out of jeans - I always make my rosettes by sewing, not hot-glueing but it kills my fingers so I may have to give the glue a try. thanks for linking to my blog! :)
